Have you ever found yourself staring at the clock, waiting, waiting, waiting, until the clock strikes 5 to head out for the day? I did. I found myself in a career that I did not choose the path to, working a 9-5 which I never pictured myself doing.
So how did I end up there?
Heading to college at the age of 17 is not easy. It is even more difficult when you are the first generation to go. I had absolutely no idea what career I wanted to do and admired the people who knew the route they wanted for the rest of their lives.
I started college majoring in athletic training, I thought since I loved sports and have been injured too many times to count, this could be a relatable route. Unfortunately, I started picturing myself in that career and I did not feel that excitement for the road ahead.
I decided to pull out of athletic training and complete any degree that would get me out of college the quickest.
I have always been hands on with my life and I thought the quicker I begin working, I would find a career I truly desire. This was not the case.
For five years I found myself sitting behind a desk waiting for the day to be over, just to do it again tomorrow. Don’t get me wrong, I learned a lot through my previous employers and have made life long friendships through those companies, but I knew this was not the route planned for me.
So where do I go from there?
